The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) is pleased to announce the launch of the Location Innovation Academy – a free online training program based on the knowledge and ideas generated by the European GeoE3 project. A webinar launching the academy is scheduled for April 5; additional webinars will follow.
The accessibility, interoperability and integration of cross-border geospatial data and services have been accelerated in the GeoE3 project over the past two years.
We are now offering the knowledge and ideas produced in the project to all interested parties by publishing an online training program called Location Innovation Academy.
This free and constantly evolving online training package includes three different courses, from which the learner can choose the modules to develop their skills. Our learning materials offer a comprehensive set of modules that supports modern and cross-border management, integration, processing, and sharing of geospatial data. The content of the modules has been produced by an international team of experts from all over Europe.

In order to cope with crisis situations quickly and offer help efficiently, humanitarian agencies need maps. Hence, MSF and the Red Cross have joined forces in 2014 to launch the Missing Maps project, along with the OpenStreetMap Foundation. All over the world the project recruits volunteers to map areas where the risk of natural disasters, epidemics and conflicts is greatest.
This year, from March 22 till March 26, the Belgian National Committee of Geography organizes the fifth edition of its National Mapathon event, in collaboration with Doctors Without Borders (MSF/AZG) and the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT). Several universities in Brussels, Flanders and Wallonia and the University of Luxembourg open their doors for a large collective mapping event. Would you like to contribute an hour or longer? Do not miss this opportunity!
The only thing you need as a volunteer is a computer and an Internet connection. It is not difficult. In no time you are working as a road mapper. PCs will be available, but feel free to bring your own laptop and mouse if you prefer to work on your own computer
