Dear all,
Last summer, at the INSPIRE Conference in Florence, the idea was born to set up an event to discuss the future of GeoNetwork with a focus on the INSPIRE use case. GeoCat has adopted this idea and will be organizing the event “GeoNetwork and INSPIRE”. The event will be held on 21 and 22 November and will be hosted at the Geonovum office, Barchman Wuytierslaan 10, Amersfoort - The Netherlands. All core GeoNetwork developers from Camp2Camp, Titellus and GeoCat will present at the event.
We, as core developer group, would like to invite you for this meeting.
Our goals for the meeting are:
- to update each other on recent and upcoming developments in GeoNetwork.
- to discuss requirements and ideas participants have for the software
- to improve contact between GeoNetwork developers and users in an INSPIRE/National SDI context.
- to enhance collaboration between users of the software and to share resources to help implement new requirements
Over the last weeks we’ve investigated within the GeoNetwork community what parts users would like to see improved. We are currently integrating the results on a wiki-page http://is.gd/geonetwork4inspire. We invite you to send us (ideas for) requirements you have and make suggestions on what is already written up.
Please send your ideas to Maria Arias de Reyna (Maria.Arias@geocat.net).
A list of Topics of interest as well as a draft agenda of the event can be found at http://ow.ly/q5DHv
You can register for the event by sending an email to GeoCat (paul.vangenuchten@geocat.net). Please specify your contact details, estimated hour of arrival/departure and any dietary restraints. Registration for the event is free, however accommodation, local expenses and travel are at your own expense. You can check for accomodation at http://booking.com/amersfoort for example.
The Geonovum offices are opposite the Amersfoort train station, which has direct connections to the national airport Schiphol (Amsterdam). If you have any questions on the event, you can send your questions to paul.vangenuchten@geocat.net.
We hope to see you in Amersfoort in November,
Paul van Genuchten and Jeroen Ticheler
